Ford 8830

We were contacted during December 2008 to carry out a refurbishment on a Ford 8830

This was an exciting project for us as in comparison to our usual portfolio of refurbs this tractor is a lot more modern and is being refurbished to extend its life as a major workhorse on farm.

Its owner has toyed with the idea of selling the tractor and updating it but enthuses about the 8830 power and over all reliability. Reliabilty is not easily bought in a used tractor!

THE TASK:

The Ford 8830 is in good mechanical condition so we have been comissioned to do the cosmetics only. A full body prep and a quality finish was required.

The tractor is suffering from a lot of corrosion around the doors and the windows

A lot of tin work had to be chopped and refabricated in order to make good

Other areas that required attention were the rust around the engine and the corrosion on the wheels.

Once the corrosion and body work had been completed we turned our attentions to the paint. At F. Sutton & Son we are very aware that the finished product is only as good as the attention to the prepartion. Here we have washed down the tractor following the body work and have started to mask up. The masking is important so we get good seams between colour changes and interiors and exteriors.  Photobucket

The primer was then applied, this shows up any imperfections which can then be attended to as required.

The finished product was very pleasing, it was lovely to see such an imposing workhorse basking in a new shiny paint finish.
