Variable Chamber Round Balers
Vicon offer a number of choices of balers from fixed chamber, variable chamber, high density baler through to Baler/wrapper combinations. All these balers offer a wealth of options to improve the baling process and to simplify the job for the operator. By far the most popular balers we deal with are the RV1601 - 1901 Variable Chamber Round Balers.
RV1601- 1901 VARIABLE CHAMBER ROUND BALERS
These superb baler features all the latest technology to ensure pickup, bale formation and wrapping are carried out effortlessly and precisely to your set requirements. Bale formation has been improved by use of a double belt chamber resulting in an ‘Open Throat’ bale chamber. This results in no restriction in feeding the crop into the baler allowing the heaviest of swaths to be handled easily. It also features AutoForm in cab control giving full control over bale formation. With a fully programmable twine system and revolutionary net wrap system this machine is impossible to beat! The baler features ‘cutting’ edge technology such as Progressive density bale formation, In cab control, variable bale density and Optifeed integral feed rotor
Key Features:
Progressive Density Plus:
High Density Bales with a moderate core. Key to the latest generation RV Balers is the development of a progressive density bale formation system for improved bale structure. As the bale grows within the bale chamber, the belt tensioning arm is subject to steadily increasing resistance from 2 hydraulic cylinders and a spring tensioner. So as the bale diameter grows, so does the bales density. The result is a very firm bale with a moderate core, not too soft, or to hard. With a tougher outer shell, straw balers will be more tolerant to poor weather conditions, while silage bales will maintain their shape for improved stacking and easier handling.

Auto-Form Control System:
The auto form in-cab control system allows the operator to make adjustments to the baler from the comfort and safety of the tractor cab. Using Autoform, the operator can select net or twine tying and adjust the quantity of net or twine applied. Also the total amount of net used is shown on the display. The system also indicates the position of the Opticut knives when fitted and displays the best location of the tractor in relation to the swath to ensure even filling of the bale chamber. It also includes the ability to set the bale diameter and, when equipped with the optional proportional valve, to determine both diameter and density of the bales core and outer layers.
Variable Bale Density:
Variable bale density facilitates optimal distribution and feeding when equipped with the optional proportional valve, the bale density and bale diameter can be fine tuned from the tractor cab to suit the gentle process of haymaking. The AutoForm in can control system allows the operator to determine both diameter and density of the bales core and outer layers.
Optifeed:
The optifeed rotor has triangular feed tines arranged in a helix which provides a fast and even feed of crop into the chamber. The gentle handling of the crop reduces fragmentation of the leaf which means lower harvest losses. The large diameter augers can even convey a tangled crop reliably into the bale chamber.
Integral Technology:
For heavy crops or lumpy matted swaths, Vicon’s integral auger technology offers a high intake capacity. The large diameter augers, combined with rotor tines arranged in a helix pattern, improve the way dense wet grass or heavy, tangled straw is cleared from the pickup, giving optimal performance in all conditions.

OptiCut:
A further option available is Vicons OptiCut crop cutting system that uses 14 or 23 knife chopping rotors. The opticut system ensures that 100% of the crop is as it enters the baler and the hydraulically adjustable knives can be fully retracted or set in an intermediate position. Pre chopping the crop prior to the baling process gives three major advantages:
- The bales can be unrolled and distributed more easily
- Every bale contains up to 15% more material
- In silage bales, quality is improved due to the more rapid fermenting process.
The benefits of increased bale density also make the transport of silage, hay and straw more cost effective and allow considerable savings on net and plastic film costs.
NetWrap:
Vicon has revolutionised the application of netwrap. No more need for feed rollers to apply wrap to the bale. Instead, when the bale tying process is activated, a steel plate presses the netwrap against the belts to feed wrap onto the bale. Together with the new spring loaded net guide system, it gives an improved surface wrapping in all conditions. The twin tube twine system reduces overall cycle times and leaves bales neat and tidy.
