MASSEY FERGUSON 1080 RESTORATION
MASSEY FERGUSON 1080
The Massey Ferguson 1080 was built in France in the early 1970's. . It was most suitable to the larger farms requiring more horsepower than it predecessors and this was how it was marketed and they were well received.. The MF1080 did have its niggles, cylinder head gaskets were a common failure but made it no less desirable. The MF1080 was later revamped and born again as a MF 595 but the cylinder head faults were not abolished until the later MF 595 II.
When we were asked to carry out a full restoration on a Massey Ferguson 1080 we happily agreed. We were told that it was in a bad state but when it arrived at the yard, we all took a big in take of breath when we looked at (through) it.
The tractor has been of the farm from new and has always been a fond part of the team. Once the tractor had retired from its duties, it was always the intent on restoring the grand tractor, but has had to sit beneath he tree until funding and circumstances were right.
As you can seefrom the slideshow above decay has well and truly set about the tractor making this an intense project not for the faint hearted and certainly not for those without an adequate chequebook.
